Title: Rims for Scorpio 24V Post by tlundkvi on Oct 13th, 2008, 10:58am Hi, I recently bought a Scorpio 24V in Germany that I will bring to Finland. Over there, we need decent (spiked) winter tyres, hence I need to buy another set of rims. Just to make sure, will there be any problem with fitting 15" rims? The brake disks are a bit larger in this model in comparison to the other versions. Grateful for any advice! Torbjorn |

Title: Re: Rims for Scorpio 24V Post by scorpio_man on Oct 13th, 2008, 12:14pm hi there no problem at all using 15" steel or alloy wheels. in fact, the scorpio originally came with 15" 'telephone' style wheels. iirc, ford state winter snow chains can only be fitted to 15" wheels. hth |

Title: Re: Rims for Scorpio 24V Post by tlundkvi on Oct 13th, 2008, 12:20pm Thanks, guess there will be no problem then. I was only concerned that the 24V has 20mm larger brake disks. Visually there is still room to shrink the rim with an inch, just wanted to make sure. Torbjörn |

Title: Re: Rims for Scorpio 24V Post by tlundkvi on Oct 13th, 2008, 11:02pm Hi there Highlander, It's a 1/95. Just starting to get to know the car... Probably an Ultima (I think it was marketed as such in UK, but not in Germany) based on the equipment level. |

Title: Re: Rims for Scorpio 24V Post by tlundkvi on Oct 14th, 2008, 10:11am Hi, Honestly, I don't know. It might be Ultima, but it is not that heavily mentioned on german sites, let alone in ads. To find this car I went through a huge pile of ads, and the name Ultima did not come across, only Ghia. The one I eventually bought was from a seller (small car dealer close to Neckarsulm) who could not care less about Scorpios. But since the car was both cosmetically and technically in order (well the alternator regulator was due to be changed, but the previous owner remedied this with a new battery because he didn't know better), I took advantage of the situation to negotiate the price down. Others in that price range had serious engine/transmission problem, so I think I got a good deal. The regulator seems BTW almost impossible to get hold of in Germany, not even Ford sells it, but found a UK dealer after some hard searching on ebay. Torbjörn |

This one has everything listed on the scorpio site under Ultima+what is said under "cost options". The car stereo and the cd-changer had been ripped from it, but that didn't bother me. |

Title: Re: Rims for Scorpio 24V Post by tlundkvi on Oct 17th, 2008, 7:06pm Hi, Just one more question, is 6Jx15 E52 ok for a scorpio 24v rim (standard on Mondeo I guess). A calculator says the wheel will be retracted by 6mm, but will this be too much? Torbjörn |

Title: Re: Rims for Scorpio 24V Post by scorpio_man on Oct 17th, 2008, 7:53pm hi there here's (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/alloyoptions.htm) some of the alloy options. your offset seems a bit out. :-/ hth |

Title: Re: Rims for Scorpio 24V Post by tlundkvi on Oct 17th, 2008, 8:12pm Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the table, and 52 is definitely not optimal. But is is too bad? Will it still fit, and will narrowing the track width (sorry, not too comfortable with the terminology) by 12mm affect driving conditions significantly? Bought the studded wheels already, 205/65R15 LI94. |
