Title: 100w Headlight Bulbs
Post by Moonchalk on Oct 27th, 2008, 8:37pm
Thinking of upgrading Scorpio headlight bulbs (full beam only) from 55w to 100w.

Any potential downside?

Thanks.

hi there

we've had issues of the wiring/switch burning out with upgraded bulbs.

i wouldn't take the risk. better to clean the inners of the headlights/lens.

You'd be better off doing a HID conversion, someone has done it in the past and the kits are cheaper now, look on e-bay....

In my experience the 100w bulbs tend to distort the beam pattern and really don't make a big difference. As Scorpio_Mike says, they ain't legal either.

Cleaning or replacing the lenses will make a huge difference, I had 150W bulbs on a MK2 Granada years ago, I used the full beam wiring as the switch feed for a relay fitted with the correct grade of wire.
