Hi Guys,

I'm going to get a remote key for the Scorp, as the original was lost by some previous owner.

I'd like the 3 button integrated key like in the picture below, does anyone know if these are compatible with the Scorp's PATS system?

Someone on here will pop up with one if you wait awhile.Most scrapyards throw them away, and will usually sell you one from £2-£4 if you find it before they scrap it.

I don't suppose there's any programming instructions anywhere, if not I'm sure I'll find some on the net, I'll feed the findings back.

You'll need the seperate key fob, the Scorpio didnt come with a remote key.

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/pats.htm just scroll down to the Programming keys section. AFAIK you could attempt to detach the "red chip" from the old key and fit it to the new key (yes and the actual key must be crafted to your lock as well). Whether the fob-part of the key is compatible it's another question. But it is easy to try with your neighbour's key. Just follow the fob programming instruction, and try if it reacts, if it does your lucky. But in that case, remember to disassociate that fob by engaging programming again!

I agree. The 'modern' key works on a totally different system to the Scorpio and even key FOBS which LOOK identical will not work with our cars. The subject has been aired many times but AFAIK no one has managed to use such a unit,either key or fob. ;)

OK guys, I'll have to source the three button fob. Not a problem, but it would look smart in one key unit.

I have a "TOAD" 2 button fob that works on my 97 2.3
It came with the car but I changed it for the original 3 button Ford fob, going to keep it as a reserve though just in case the official one packs up............as if ;D

Just to add a bit to this, i got a new master key cut and programmed for £60, the guy that did it downloaded the codes from the internet, i was quoted £170 from the Ford main dealers, and the main thing is i can get copies done for £20, i thought this was a very good deal, pm me if you want to know where i had it done, as it was done from a large nationwide key cutters, but this guy has his own thing going on say no more Guv ;)

Thanks to Sturdybloke for our smooth transaction, I now have a remote programmed and working. ;D
