Title: Insurance
Post by Highlander on Dec 7th, 2008, 12:05pm
I've just renewed my insurance , moved from the company I've been with for the last two years.

Now if anyone remembers when I fitted a 2.0 diff to my 24v and told the insurance about it because it was a mod I got a surprising reply saying there was no additional increase in the premium.

Now I always though this was a mistake on their part but i had it written on my details so i assume i'm covered.

Anyway I assumed this time with the new insurance company they would pick it up and i'd get a hefty quote.

But no...

"As the part fitted to the vehicle is from a lower performace model there will be no additional premium!"

Now as this mod takes about a second and a half off your 0-60 time it is a huge performance mod,
I just wonder if I increased the engine BHP enough to give me the same performance what the premium would be ;

Definitely a wee loophole ;)

Highlandman,  you're  far  too  honest  for  this  world   ::)

 Who's to know you've changed the diff ?

Anyhoo,  the diff, while it may increase your  0-60 time, isn't really a performance item  as  the engine  output  is  the  same  and  the  car's  top  speed  is relatively  unaltered.

erm true but it makes it a LOT quicker off the mark, which I reckon is an improvement in performance however you look at it ;)
