Title: Rev dip on overrun
Post by mindofitsown on Dec 24th, 2008, 2:17am
2.0l Ultima (auto)
Have noticed in the last few days that when driving along in top gear at about 50mph and then taking foot off throttle, the rev counter dips to almost zero and then returns to a sensible reading. I know its normal for the revs to go down on overrun but it used to go down to just above 1000rpm but now dips way below that first.
I can't tell if the actual engine itself is revving down or not (can't hear it).
Anybody shed light on this?
While I'm here, Merry Christmas everyone!

If the engine isn't almost stalling when the revs dip right down, then my first thought would be an alternator diode fault  :)

Merry Christmas  :)
