As the title says. It failed due to a brake imbalance. A warp disc I suspect, as it has been juddering under braking for a while. I bought the car already fitted with cross drilled discs. To cut to the chase. I bought some discs form a local car shop who ordered them in. on going to change them, I noticed the old ones on the front of the car look to be 275mm the new ones which are not cross drillled as I thought just go for stock type. look to be 220mm. I'm going to take them back to the shop tomorrow has anyone got any recomendations for where to buy some cross drilled ones ??

hi there

before buying new discs, do the following:

find a queit duel carrage way or m/way.
get up to 70mph then STAND on the brakes as hard as you can!
take it down to about 20mph and then let go of the brakes.

do this 3 or 4 times as fast as you can. this should straighten up you discs.

what you're doing is heating up the discs by friction. once you've done this 3 or 4 times, run the car for a mile or two to let them cool back down.

Thanks for the advice scorpio man. Thing is I have removed the offending disc it looks a bit of a mess on one side. Thanks for the link, I looked on ebay an I didn't see those discs...I think I'll give them a shot. They seem like a good price.

To my mind brake imbalance points to a sticking piston and not disc warping. I had the same problem at my recent MOT and the problem was caused by corrosion on one of the pistons.
