hi there

that's the $64000 question.

IMO, and it's only my opinion anything from £200 to £1500 for the VERY BEST example (low mileage, fsh, etc).

your car's 12 years old. parts cost a fortune when you can find them, etc.

no body wants them as they're gas guzzlers.

really, they're worth more as scrap now a days.

i hope you take this the way it's meant. :) i'm only trying to be honest.

regards

Like I said I was hoping for about a thousand due to condition and the full ford service history work will all be done soon too. I understand how it's meant as well  ;)

Scorpio_man has a point - basically at the moment most Scorpios are worth very little, even the best will not fetch much more than £1500 - a car which was launched with controversial styling at the time, was not well received by the general public and did not sell in anything like the numbers Ford had hoped for.

This got me thinking.
I can remember when the Mk1 & Mk2 Granadas had hit little more than scrap value - yet look at the cult following they enjoy now - decent ones sell for quite good money. Now a rare sight on our roads - think about when you last saw one.

The Mk3 Granada / Scorpio has also reached little more than scrap value now - but some of the rare 4x4 & Cosworth versions are now being snapped up by enthusiasts as future classics - how many do you see on the roads now ? At one time quite a common sight, but now seems only a few around.

Isn't it inevitable that the Scorpio will also go the same way ?
Produced in far smaller numbers than any of the previous Granada incarnations and truly the last of the European big luxury Fords. Thanks to this website, the Scorpio has a head start towards cult status - remember the internet wasn't around when the Mk1 & Mk2 Granada started to acquire a following.

There will probably be very few Scorpios left on the roads in 5 or 10 years time - keeping them running will probably be a challenge mainly because of the complex electrics.
I intend to keep mine running for as long as possible.

My rant over, just my 2 cents.

at the rate they are getting broken i would say less than that m8 there seams to be very few Tds about mine is an exec and i aint seen a TD exec about for quite some time like you said alot of folks aint got the time or money to through at the electrics when they go belly up or auto boxes, they must be getting fewer as my classic insurance company have allowed the TD exec to be put on with no problem. At the end of the day the price is what someone is willing to pay on the day and a true enthusiast will pay slighty more for a nice example as they are very few now

Del.
Do you intend to put your Scorp up for sale,or are you just interested in it's current value ? If the latter is the case, you have been well informed by previous replies ! However these cars, like so many other underated incarnations of yesteryear are languishing in the doldrums, and will never decrease further in value. The time is not too far off, when the few people who really loved them from the start and indeed those who realise how far ahead of their time they were, will have a few quid available to indulge their hankering, therefore a good Scorpio, and there are still a few about, will be a sought after dream.
At this time, unless your car is past it's best,or has become a nuisance, the best thing to do, if you have the space,is to hang on to it and nurture it . These cars are without doubt a labour of love, and if looked at purely through the eyes of the 'motorist',are just a liability, but to the patient enthusiast, have a great deal to offer.Personally,I have ten of them, seven of which are extended funeral vehicles in daily use, they are good value for money, and are paid regular attention to,as one would to a lorry, bus or taxi with which one's living is made, they suffer similar problems to those quoted on this excellent site every day,but have ceased to take me by surprise  8)
                                 GOZZ.

I'm not  hopeful  of getting  much for my  '96   2lt  Ultima even though it's  served me daily, trouble-free  ( well almost )   for 4 years.

It will be  going in April 2009, and if I get £300-400  I'll be chuffed.

Anyone  interested  in central Scotland,   give me a shout. :-*

Very nice Mk1 you have there JC. I'm guessing that is a very late one being on a R plate as my first Mk2 was on an S plate.
It looks HUGE parked next to the Scorpio !

I always lusted after the 2-dr Coupe version but was too young to own one at the time.
Too poor to run one when I got my first job  :'(

Look up the Blur Park Life video on YouTube for a bit of Mk1 Coupe nostalgia - same colour as yours too.
