any ideas 1996 TD the temp gauge is up and down like a yo yo half then cold when hot also the clocks keep reseting and the rev counter flickeres every now and again i have tried 2 new batteries and still does it could it be the clocks knakered as i have cleaned all the earth points up and the fuse boxes are dry batt cover in place and all the other electrics work fine  ???

Checked the multiplugs for the Instrument cluster?
Maybe should try with another cluster if possible?

The BIG multi Pin plug on the offside wing below the power steering reservoir is the one to check and clean with contact cleaner. The contacts can get dirty and cause this sort of problem.

YOu can test the sender unit by grounding it out . That should give a FULL scale reading on the display.. If all else fails replace the  appropriate sender unit. I think there are two on most models one for the eec and one for the gauge .. The gauge one only has ONE wire.
