It is possible it’s an airlock.
Details of replacing the matrix which they may mean are here:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/matrix.htm

Whilst it’s possible to buy non Ford ones you need to make sure you get the right one as motor factors normally supply the wrong one.

You should be able to find plenty of threads on this :)
Have a look at this thread, it’s rather long and goes off topic but may be useful it includes a link to someone who can supply the correct matrix:

Also:

If they mean the flaps aren't working you can test these whilst doing a reset.
Whilst in diagnostic mode you can hear the flaps opening and closing, if you turn the fan speed up you can feel the air pulsing through the vents – difficult to feel the changes from warm to cold but possible.
You MUST return the rotary controls back to zero before finishing the reset.

Just a thought. Don't forget that each side has  :) independent temperature selection. Could it be that a sensor or switch for the drivers side is us?.

I would hazard a guess that either the air blend damper motor has failed or the air duct temperature sensor has failed. But a code reading should confirm this,

I have a complete box with damper motors and air duct sensors. only issue is that I put my fingers through the fabric on oe of the distribution flaps.. But all the other esential parts are there.

Codes will show during a climate control reset, see here:
