Title: Cossie belt
Post by Tons_of_fun on Mar 9th, 2009, 10:03pm
Evening all. Im going to be changing the drive belt on the cossie soon (alternator, water pump etc belt), but im too tight to pay FMD prices. Ford list the belt as being a 6 rib belt 1415mm long, but local motor factors can only obtain a belt 1413mm long. Would it honestly make any differance  ???. Answers on a postcard to.......
Cheers...Craig  :)

wouldnt think so for 2mm the tensioner should adjust it anyway

hi there

i'd 'play' with the new belt a bit first before putting it on the car.

just see if  you can get a bit of stretch in as the tensioner is for taking up the slack of an old belt. not sure how much give it has for a shorter belt.

watch it's not putting any strain of the pulleys.

dont think its belts that 'stretch' after 'playing' with them.

It will be fine.

at 1 1/2M  2mm is probably within manufacturing tollerance anyway.
