Title: power steering reservoir leak Post by pedropedro on Mar 10th, 2009, 8:04pm The tube connector had been leaking at the base of the steering fluid reservoir and fluid has dripped over the electrical connector immediately below.large square centre securing nut rather than wait for an issue to develop thought I would ask whether its worth cleaning this up. Is the connector just a joint for the main loom or is there something relevant under that connector? will the fluid ingress and create a problem or is best left alone; any advice appreciated.. "if it aint broke..." is my usual approach but old scorps need preventative care ...john |

In this instance the answer is "Yes it will likely enter the connector" and "Clean it up". Also check the alternator as this has a habit of getting covered in the stuff and "it don't like it". Quite often the cllip securing the hose simply needs tightening or if that is a non starter then a replacement is required.- |

Title: Re: power steering reservoir leak Post by Highlander on Mar 10th, 2009, 10:09pm Its the connector for the engine loom to the main loom John, if remove the cover you'll see if the oil has got into the wiring, the wiring is sealed though and the multiplug has a rubber seal and the internal pins are all greased, I'd be more concerned if it was water but have a look and see. |
