hello to all you knowledgeable people,silly question to ask you may say but would anyone know the true colour name for my 1998 24v scorp?it looks dark brown to me maybe shading purpleish but more brown than anything.reason i ask is because im presently offshore so cannot get to my car at the moment and im being asked the question because i need a new bumper resprayed.thanks in advance for any ideas. :)

The details of the original colour code will be displayed, in code, on the VIN plate. The details of how to read it are HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/vin.gif). If you are unable to get that detail put up another post asking if someone can tell you the detail from the index number. If they can you can send them a PM. Don't put the Index mark on the open forum. :)

thanks for that simmo,i cannot get to my car but by the index number i take it thats the registration(am i correct?)so if anyone can help i can pm them that.i did just look at the page on here "about the car" and im pretty sure my colour is the colour of the car top left of the page.but it would be great if i could be sure.

pm sent highlander.just had another look on the colour and trim page and it looks to me as if its the european colour;Kastanien-Rot xsc2776.are those numbers the paint code ?

Rot is Ericspeak for red, according to babel fish, that is the correct spelling.

hi scott i did assume rot was red so it seems the colour of my car would be kastanien red xsc2776.highlander is checking for me as we speak the very nice person he is so as soon as he confirms my theory i will get my bumper sent to be sprayed .i was quoted 200 pounds from FMD to spray and fit but maybe i can get it done a wee bit cheaper.

yours and mine are only 43 apart in the number sequence :)

Despite there being a whole stack of exotic sounding colours, yours is officially "Dark Maroon" ;D
