I'm sure this has been covered before perhaps, but all I ask is a little direction. Ford directs me towards 225/50 16 tyes, but a lot of the suppliers say 205/55 16. I'm not a race driver, but I like sure-footedness. I'm looking at Conti' contact premiums in either size, I like the Hankook tyres as well, the K104 and K105, in either size as well. It's only a 2.3 I have, with the normal 6.5 Ultima wheels. Suggestions are welcome.

Example Continental Premium Contact 2, 205/55R16, 85 euros/pc and 225/50R16 for 128 euros/pc
Hankook k105 ventus prime, 225/50R16, 82 euros/pc

The tyres that are factory fitted to the 12 spokes are 225/50/16. But it's all a matter of personal choice whether you want to change the tyre size. Personally I'd stick with the 225/50/16s, they make the car look alot meatier ;)

Stick with the 225's Peter. Shop around and you will pick up some good ones for a decent price.
I bought an Ultima with the 205's and the handling was compromised. Fitted 225's and the drivabilty was far superior.

Yep, I thought these might be the replies I would get, and thanks for that guys. I think I will stick to the 225's, I can get Hankooks k104 and K105 for about £70 each so I'm happy with that. Thery're a good enough tyre, I have them on my wifes car and the grip and mileage is fine.

We need to remember that at the when the Scorp was new, the best tires could probably not beat the Hankooks now.

I need only two, and in this case I would not mix profiles, so I would probably go for the Hankooks 225/50 as well.
