well in the nearest future i'll have to change my rear discs and was thinking about doing a full upgrade to Cosworth brake system. All 4 discs, pads, calipers etc.
Anyone did such a thing before? I'm looking for a list of parts that are needed, some advice on the whole operation etc...
Also what kind of discs and pads would you recommend?

sounds like a good deal to me :) but for now I don't have cash for a set of new Cossie discs + money to pay the garage to install them as it's beyond my capabilities and tools to do it myself , so for now I'm just making plans ;)

i'm just making a list of what i need...

1) 4x brake pads sets
2) 2x 278mm discs
3) 2x 273mm discs
4) 4x Cosworth calipers
5) 4x Cosworth caliper mountings

Anything else needed for a swap?

The hubs are all the same, just the calipers that are different.

Not too big a job, replace the discs pads and calipers and bleed the brake system.

Once you get your discs and pads give me shout and i'll swap them over for you, it'll cost you a couple of cups of coffee though ;)

Ain't there a mounting bit under the calipers that is also needed for the swap? So they are mounted higher then the ones I got...

I'll try to get the discs and pads within 2 weeks and then I'll definitely give you a shout. Cheers for that mate!

I can rebuild you a fusebox for that ;) }{ ;D

please check if there ain't those mounting bits under the calipers that lift them... i'm pretty sure there are and will be needed for the swap... or the calipers will be too low...

Has anybody tried fitting Mondeo Mk3 front calipers with Focus ST170 300mm discs?

I read on a Mondeo site that you can do that for the MK1 and 2 Mondeo. Since the Mondeo Mk2 16v has the same discs and calipers as the Scorpio 16v (and the Mk2 24v has the same discs and calipers as the Scorpio 24v), then they ought to bolt straight on. The wheels might not fit back on though afterwards.

All Mondeo Mk3 have same 300mm front brakes but have 5 stud wheels, that's why you need the 4 stud Focus discs.

I think he is referring to the caliper carrier, the bit you unbolt to get the disc off

Just thinking, isn't the caliper the same, both use the same pads? I can only think of the carrier being different, as the disc comes 10mm higher.

I think they use different pads.

Some may list that these 24V's need wear indicators, mine didn't. Otherwise the pads looked exactly the same rear. Front is a different story I see :)

The wear indicators are for the Granada - 94 the Scorpio didnt have them.

Wojtekor do you mean the bracket on the front brakes?

24v front Caliper and bracket has a different part number from the others.

DOHC, 12v and diesel appear to share the same one.

I'm almost positive the 24v front is a larger caliper but i'll check at the weekend

If you compare the brakes from a 2.3 and Cosworth you'll see that not only the calipers are bigger, they are also mounted higher...

wont be able to have a look till the weekend but yeah i know what you mean, the bracket on the front brakes, it will be different im sure but i will be bringing them with me anyway.

Got your pm, im not too up on my brakes, i just replace mines with ones off another car so i dont know what they are :)

Stuart someone suggested on the polish forum that to fit cossie discs in the back the bearing cover/surrounding needs changing as well... ???
