Title: Oil Cooler
Post by GrumpyOne on Jun 8th, 2009, 9:38am
Forgive me for what is going to be a stupid question :)

The auto box on the 24V Cossie has an oil cooler, does the engine also have one?

Told you it was a stupid question :)

hi there

yes and no. it's in the coolant loop but doesn't have it's own radiator, if  that's what you're looking for.

OK so the oil cooler talked about in 35. (Detach the coolant hose from the oil
cooler) is actually an engine oil cooler but not a radiator type. Interesting, should be easy enough to fit an external oil cooler radiator to it then, or would it?

Cheers
Colin

hi there

you could fit one, but i see no reason for it. ford/cosworth only 'plumbed' it in and must have tested it. they thought the design was fine, so i would say it doesn't need  one unless you were using the car at high speeds (racing) all the time.

Not all the time, but certainly some of it's time will be spent on the track, and it will probably have a turbo on it.

You're going to have 200+ horse power in a dinky wee car then you're sticking a turbo on it??  ;D

May the Force be with you young Jedi  ;D

I am putting drum brakes on it aswell, but I did tell you I was going to let my wife drive it, didn't I ;D

I was after a twin turbo BOA engine before I bought this one, but the guy sold it before I got there, swine.

All good fun ;D

Between 400 & 500 BHP per tonne, with the turbo.
