Title: Catalyst Post by Slipknot on Jun 17th, 2009, 7:13pm Hello! Recently if failed MOT on 1996 2.0 100kW Frogeye. All ok, but CO indicates 0.39 with max 0.30. Want to change catalyst. Original part costs a lot and want to change to Universal Catalyst. Will this Universal catalyst work like normal part? Also exhaust needs to be welded. Any ideas on this one? Thanks in advance! |

Title: Re: Catalyst Post by tlundkvi on Jun 17th, 2009, 8:23pm But Slipknot, are you really sure you want to do all the welding? You could get a direct fit cat for around £70-80 at www.buypartsby.com. Oh sorry, didn't realize you were estonian :) Check 180327428944 on ebay, 170 euros delivered to Estonia. There was this finnish guy, don't have the link, but he was a good welder and did the work in like 1-1,5 days. |

The second one is not that badly priced either. What I mean is that if you look at the ebay listing, the shape is not really in favour of welding in a universal cat. |

Title: Re: Catalyst Post by tlundkvi on Jun 20th, 2009, 8:16am This was the Finnish guy who put universal cats into a 24V. Obviously he wasn't aware you could just buy them from UK for 220e incl shipping (i did, and I'm from Finland too) and install them... http://frogrider.net/cat_project.htm |

Title: Re: Catalyst Post by Slipknot on Jun 27th, 2009, 11:05am Ok. I've passed the MOT today. After changing CAT it passed. I've saved my old MOT data: 2007 i bought it: CO 0.25 MAX 0.30 Lambda 1.0090 2008: CO 0.290 MAX 0.30 Lambda 0.9990 2009 MOT part1 Fail: CO 0.390 MAX 0.30 Lambda 0.9960 2009 MOT part2 Pass: After changing Catalyst. CO 0.010 MAX 0.30 Lambda 1.0150 In 3 years you can see how the CAT begining to fail. i had a surgery on that CAT. Inner structure of it was destroyed. http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090627/13985/I84k61JTuC.jpg (http://ipicture.ru/) The begining: http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090627/13985/Tvm7mPInZm.jpg (http://ipicture.ru/) Now you can see, it's broken: http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090627/13985/7dbuoZqVUb.jpg (http://ipicture.ru/) http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090627/13985/Zij5FD4qGW.jpg (http://ipicture.ru/) http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090627/13985/Dfq5DKwk07.jpg (http://ipicture.ru/) http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090627/13985/70TRaGqJQ7.jpg (http://ipicture.ru/) Finished project :P http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090627/13985/hVWgEGsEUc.jpg (http://ipicture.ru/) |
