Hi All
I live in the sheffield area and i am having trouble finding an exhaust for my car. Cats are not a problem as they seem readily available on ebay but i can't seem to purchase the rest of the system in my area. Can anybody help me please.

Get a custom stainless one made from someone like http://www.exhaustsuk.co.uk/frames.html (they are in Sheffield). Cat back on my 24v was £280 from a similar local company.

Should be about the same price as an off the shelf mild steel item if you could actually find one.

Keep us posted as I too need an exhaust.
According too several motor factors I deal with they don't make an aftermarket one for the BOB , apart from, as you say the cat's. I actually also have a Timax catalogue myself and can confirm that there's no mention of one in there either.

N.B.
So far all of the stainless one I have seen fitted have less silencers and so this may also change the noise level of the exhaust.

Do you have any information yet ???

I am now at the stage where the car is going to have to come off the road. I was going to take the exhaust off and repair it but am now wondering as to whether or not it's worth the effort. :-/

To add to this...

Im currently in contact with Brian Ashley (of Ashley Performance Exhausts for those aware of his numerous works in the classic ford world :) ) about the possibility of producing a performance 2.5" system for the 24v. Personally, im after a manifold back system (loosing the cats for off-road use, officer ;D) and if i can persuade them to make a jig from my car, then its possible they will add an off the shelf 24v system to their catalogue :)

One word of warning tho; Ashley 'zorsts are renound for their "robust" note - so might not be what you'd be looking for if a quiet life is your goal.

But who wants to own a 24v and gag it ? ;D

maybe we could see who is genuinely interested in one and go to them with an order for a few? might be cheaper if you're asking for half a dozen ;)

Can only help :) - Brian is on hols for a fortnight, so if i could mention that there were another half dozen interested parties straight off too when he gets back, then i think that should raise their interest nicely :)

A thought on stainless systems too. There are systems and "systems" - certain "bespoke" exhaust garages (who are nationwide,but shall remain nameless) will produce you a roughly fitting exhaust shaped pipe which has poor design, sharp bends, exhast boxes with blown.vibrating baffles from new and a finish that will make you think it was welded together by a blind seagull. Add to this the fact they use a grade of stainless that can actually rust..... and you might as well not bothered. The price mentioned (not casting any aspersions) seems about the price they'd be charging.

The reason i'm heading to Ashleys is because i got a quote from a local race pipe engineer (who supply bespoke systems to Marcos, TVR and Aston Martin to name a few) who quoted me £660 + VAT for a cat back system (or £1,300 if i wanted one off stainless manifolds produced too)

Ashleys should weigh in somewhere around the £250 - 300 mark. They'll be mild steel, but the quality is such that I know of pipes they've made still in active service 30 years after fitting :)

I'd be interested in the Ashley system if they could make it with a cat bypass pipe that you could swap the cat in and out come MOT time. You'll also need to have the cat bypass pipes fitted with lambda bosses else the ECU wont fuel the engine properly. The post cat sensors you could just disconnect or zip tie up out of the way.

Im thinking that the best bet is to get the system designed initially to mate to the back of the catalysts, and then getting the decat pipes made up as an extra for those interested - that way they can be swapped out should it be ncessary ;)

Already discussed the need for lambda bosses in the design brief :)

I have a 2.3 'Baby' Ultima, and would be interested in 'Cat-Back' Stainless Steel system. I'm not bothered about paying for a 'Cat', but would be interested in preserving the rest of the system for the life of the car. Unfortunately I live in the North of Scotland, pstage can be a problem, but fitting I'd do myself.

That's very kind of you Highlander. If I get stuck I'll let you know. My exhaust is OK at the moment, but having just discovered that my lovely car is worthy of spending money on, (Because I just had it checked by a mate for MOT) I'm thinking as soon as my exhaust does go, I'll replace it with Stainless Steel if I can find one!
