Hi Guys Today I changed over de-icer switch, the plastic grille has to be removed but I notices that the the pi[ping that sits on the top is missing hence the amount of water getting inside, now my question is can this pi[ping be purchased seperately? your info would be appreciated.

Kenboy. Do you mean the rubber trim which runs the width of the engine bay from fusebox to fusebox?.If so I would have thought someone breaking a car would be able to help. :)

I think he means the little round rubber seal that fits under the plastic grille.Personally I attach no importance to it,you could always replace it with a length of rubber tubing of the same size from a parts store,if you're worried !

Hi Thanks But |I have always been puzzled, when after it has been raining I am left with a fair amount of water under the bonnet around the battery cover and pollen filter box and when I discovered most of this seal was missing I assumed this was the problem after all it has to serve this very purpose I would have thought,but I may be wrong?

I think it's only there to stop the grill rattling against the screen.
The water will come through the slots of the grill anyway.

Ok Thanks for that, btw this is the first car of many that I have owned that has had this problem of water getting in under the bonnet, have you any suggestions on how at least to mimimise this annoying and unwelcome design fault?

Kenboy.
Water in there will do no harm,but do ensure that the drainage holes are clear on both sides or it will fill up like a tank and damage the electrics.
