Hi there!
I had a jumping revs on idle since bought a car (2 years ago) in a range of 750 - 1100.

Cleaning the MAF with replacing air filter didn't solve the problem.

About month ago my engine faded when i started it (revs went too low). It was only once. Then one time again after 2 weeks or so.
But 2 days ago the engine started fading on every crossroad. I checked the bonnet but didn't see any special.

It was very hard to start from the crossroad, because engine faded right after i start it (it's automatic, s I cannot press accelerator right after starting engine and then change to 'D'). With beepings behind ;D

Somehow i got to my houese and checked the bonnet more carefully.
And then I found a hardly noticeable EGR pipe break behind the engine:

PS: Shouldn't there be some bracket to hold the EGR valve? Because it's now held on the pipes in my car ???

It seems that all that time it had a little split that has cracked at last!

Fortunately, there was one on a scrap yard nearby.

I have replaced it and now my revs on idle are as stable as never before! 8)

Glad you got it sorted.

Do you normally have the manifold heat shield fitted, as there’s an extra bracket on it that bolts to the EGR bracket to the right of the red circle in your picture.
If not you can see it in the second picture here (this is a 2.0, but looks the same):

Thanks for the photos. The car came to me without it.
Do you know the part number of this shield? I suppose the constant vibration of EGR valve led to the pipe break, so it can happen again

I don't think that's it.
It's 3 parts.
I'll look on the car later & see if there are any numbers on it.

The top section:
95GB9N454AC
R151A

The front section:
95GB9N454CA

The back section:

I used stainless bolts, I think there are 11
6M X 10mm
& a 10M nut.
The nut goes after the lifting eye & nut – so if they are missing you’ll have to space it out.

If I remember correctly you should have a long hollow bolt holding the bracket for the 2 rubber pipes – this is for one of the heat shield bolts.

Hmm. It consists of three parts??? strange I thought it's only one. Cannot find any of it on google! Do you know how to get FINIS numbers for that parts?

"fter the lifting eye & nut" - what is "eye" here?? i'm not english ;) and hat

What about long hollow bolt - there was no bolt when i bought a car. So tubes are held by EGR valve that is help by other pipes on engine :)

Near to the front of the engine is one of two steel loops used when lifting the engine,there is a stud holding it on with an extended thread for bolting on the heatshield bracket.The long hollow bolt to which Tompion refers is shaped like a long hexagon nut,it holds the strap around the EGR pipe to the manifold,in the outer end of it there is a female thread for one of the small heat shield bolts.A Ford dealer will give finis numbers for the parts quoted by Tompion.

I'll try to ask ford dealers here, but they will hardly do anything, because... let it be just because =)
They even declined me to make copmuter diagnostics year ago saying that my car is too old, they deal only with cars since 2000 year >:(
