Best to start by checking all EGR system tubes and pipes etc.

hi, i am afraid my computer skills are very limited as far as recording sounds not a clue,the pinking sound is very slight when the engine comes under load going up hill otherwise its fine thanks for the replys so far. regards ivan.

Hi, Jonnycab's problem turned out to be a camshaft position sensor

I thought i had pinking under light load which went away under heavy acceleration. Turned out to be a rattling O/S cat ::) ;D

Hi, just got back from holiday & just seen this post :)

My pinking was extremely bad.....the kind of pinking you get when the timing is out. Replacing the camshaft position sensor cured the problem immediately :D......

It did come back again slightly & still does occasionally, but nowhere near as bad as before. This slight occasional pinking is now always cured by running some fuel cleaner through the system, & is probably due to slight carbon build up caused by the short journeys & stop/start motoring that my Scorp has to endure being a taxi.

hi,thanks for the help again like you jonnycab i only do short runs is the camshaft position sensor at the rear of the rocker cover on the right with one stud 8mm and a 2 wire plug next to egr valve. i checked egr valve it lifts when you suck through pipe and hoses are all connected [highlands help] regards ivan.

Yep, the camshaft sensor is the one at the rear of the rocker cover next to the egr :)

hello, i have changed the camshaft position sensor but the one i put on had a different number on it,orignal no0367 new2446 it now ticksover slightly faster and pinks slightly as i pull away differnt to before,there must be different sensors is it a trip to fords any idea how much anybody regards ivan.
