hi all
if iv put this post in wrong place...sorry
having been a ford granada owner for almost 30 years.iv had most of the models at one time or another and still got a mk1 coupe v8 iv owned for the last 17 years sat on the drive as too bloody expensive to run now.
im now into my second 24v these are almost my favourite granada apart from being too complicated for their own good.i bought this car almost a year ago.i didnt test drive it properly as i only noticed a few weeks after buying it that sport mode didnt work properly and kickdown was sorta hit or miss but apart from that was a lovely car to drive. i did get the car checked over but he couldnt find what the problem was.
4 weeks ago it went for mot flew through just needing 2 tyres and a bulb,about a week later the speedo started to get eratic.this last few days it seemed to rev out of gear from about 20 mile an hour upward for first few miles to work then drive ok ish.
thanks to your problems section on this site i just fitted a new vss sensor and took it for a test drive
speedo according to sat nav seems to read 1 or 2 miles above sat nav speed or most likely sat nav is a couple seconds behind
kickdown now works perfectly
sport mode works like a charm.it feels like a totaly different car

Is it a Granada you have? or is it the 95- Scorpio?

iv got a 96 24v
according to my local ford dealer the clip on the vss is no longer available so be carefull with it

hey is it my fault ford couldnt make their minds up what they are ?
go in local spares shop they get confused as well
o yea by the way my local partco has an exhaust system for the 24v...strange as its only got one pipe..they were most confused as i informed them it was for the 2 or 2.3l..after a lot of searching the guy there said he can definately get the right sytem for a 24v
the reason for looking for an exhaust system was because my local auto tranny specialist checked the car over and said exhaust blocked pmsl.i even asked if it was the vss but he said no.

Theres a lot of confusion out there because of the Granada Scorpio model.

It also didnt help that in europe Ford called the Granada the Scorpio, the Granada is a UK only model name.

So the Europeans have the Scorpio I (Granada UK) and the Scorpio II (Scorpio UK)

the Granada production officially ended in 94

What you have is a Scorpio Ultima 24v Cosworth

Yep you'll just have to get used to all the factors and even Ford Main Dealers selling you Granada parts, it happens all the time :)

You just have to keep telling the parts people "SCORPIO 1995 ON" they will sell you Granada parts if they get half the chance ;) Some will even argue that they are the same car,but as we know they differ greatly !
