Hi all,
I changed a leaky heater matrix on my TD a while back and ever since, I've had bother with the car misting up when it's raining or damp. (most of the summer then, lol) I suspect that the flap that changes the airflow from outside to recirculating air isn't operating as cracking a window open helps.
Can someone point me towards the actuating motor location that operates the flap? My car has climate control so it isn't the cable operated system.

Hi Jim

The fault is probley do to the carpets still being damp from the leak ?

possable a fan heater placed in car to dry it out as the foam under the carpet gets well wet.
Shut all doors and windows and SLIDE the sun roof open about 3" so the hot air and moisture vent away

Check out the unit under the bonnet by the wiper motor which controls the 're-circulation'. Show HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/blower03.jpg). If you operate the controls you should see the 'bar' move. ;)

Try leaving a couple of those condensation absorber things with the crystals in the car overnight to draw any moisture out from the carpet & underfelt.

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies. I'd have hoped the carpets were dry by now, I changed the matrix back in January :D They didn't feel damp back then but I'll have another check. Air con drains are fine too, will have a check of the actuator and see if it's moving.

Hi scorpio_man. the only thing that the pollen filter can be blocking is my bin, I threw them away ages ago and never got around to buying replacements ;D I thought they might have been damp and causing the steaming up issues so they were the first thing to go!

I would also think about the carpet thats not fully dry. If the carpet feels dry it could be moist under the carpet towards the floor. I owned a Opel (vauxhall) before that had a heat matrix leak. Had the same problem as you, the carpets felt dry but it steamed anyway. I rented a demoister machine at a local hardware shop and i left it in the car running over the weekend. The demoister pulled out almost 4liters of water from the cars cupe. All the water that the machine collected was not only the matrix leak but from the trunk seats and everywhere else. My theory is that a car collects a lot of water up the years from rain, tempetures that rise at day and sinks at night creating moist.

But to the case again, after demoisting the cupe my steamy window problem was gone:)
