Title: Whats it worth?
Post by Del on Sep 8th, 2009, 8:15pm
How much is my Scorpio worth roughly, 1997 P-reg, 2.0 16v ultima, full service history, full leather, electric seats, 6 cd autochanger, climate control, everything an ultima can have it's got exclding parking sensors, TC and pass airbag.

One of the cleanest scorps out there (Honestly it is so clean).

122,980 miles
New battery
10 months MOT
Full Ford service history
No rust
New rear discs and pads (less than 10 miles on them)

Got a little autobox issue will won't pull of in Drive on the first go you have to start in 1st then go to second then into drive. Is fine after that though, price with it like this.
Also a price with the autobox fixed as I would like to get it done for the new owner.

It was garaged when it was 5 years old and got left to be honest but it was all covered up in the garage etc dry stored. Mint inside too not a mark carpets like new (still shine) no rips mint leather wood. One of the cleanest you will find as I say.

I was thinking with gearbox done around £1300 mint cond.

I'd reckon if you sorted the gearbox you'd be looking at half of what you're aiming at, they're just not worth anything now.

Is it a saloon or estate?

Seriously  :o Wouldn't let it go for that, especially with the gearbox done. Saloon, dark blue.

4 new tyres too, spare is also new.

Well as i've said for a few years now, if you've got a good one keep it, they arent worth selling.

Last one i saw go over the £1000 mark was a very rare auto diesel facelift that was also in excellent condition.

try it on ebay with a high reserve but i think you'll be lucky to see anywhere near what you're looking for

I'll get it on ebay then probably, won't let it go for less than a grand with a re-con box in it, as it's so mint.

Off topic, but in Finland you would be looking at 3500-4000 euros autobox fixed...

Del.
It's a great shame but very true,as Highlander says prices are really in the doldrums just now, that car is worth far more to you than anyone else, there are currently so many good examples available, but this will not always be so,and when the time comes for classic status good ones will be sought after because they really are a very good strong car,let down mainly by electrics which is not an insurmountable problem. When the car first appeared I have to say the radical change from the good old Granada was frightening, however as time has passed the style is proven to have been ahead of it's time.
Hang onto it,cherish it,and you won't want to part with it when prices rise  8)

Yep (not guaranteed, but I would say 3000e atleast). But if one imports one, there is 700-1000 euros to be paid (around 25% of retail value) in a one time registration tax. Scorps are worth the double compared to UK in Germany already. UK has the problem it's not so easy to export them to other countries though (including eastern Europe).

Have a look: http://www.nettiauto.com/?sitelang=1

Finland has heavy bargaining on person to person (as opposed to dealership sales) deals though, final price is usually 10-20% below asked price.

Sold my -92 mk3 Golf 1.8, 200K km, automatic with no extras in it for 1300e when I got the scorp last year, paint was in poor condition, but technically the car was in good shape.

The scorp is an odd one over here though, it was never sold as new here, most are used German imports.

I have facelift 2.3 with all ultima optios. 6 month ago I paid 1300e but car was in bad condition (leaking steering fluid, trans fluid etc...)
. I used at least 1000e for repairs and another pair of tires etc.
Still cheap compared to what you get for that price in Finland. Like -91 v6 audis or -94 corollas etc..

Well that car is a bit like the 7000 euro scorpio on the Finnish nettiauto. The ad has been there for the last 6 months or so.

I got a mint P Reg 12v, cost me £10 to put through MoT, only 67,000 miles all for £500, a steal.

I suppose it all comes down to how much someone wants to pay for one. I've seen them as cheap as £250 & as much as £3000. Last year a member from this site sold his 24v estate ( albeit in mint condition ) for over £2500  ;). Recently the wife has been ribbing me over the amount of money im spending on fuel each week ( £50-£70 )  :o & she has persueded me to offer it up for sale  :-/. So i've got a sign in the back window asking for £1695  ::) ::) ::). Yep i know i wont get that for it...As mint as it is, but thats the genius behind the madness !!!. I'll just sell a kidney to afford the fuel  ;D ;D ;D

It's still not impossible, having seen on the forum what nice problems a scorp can get, to spend even more on fixing a bad one to good condition.
