Post by Comfortzone on Sep 8th, 2009, 11:28pm
and im as excited as a blind pup in a hot dog factory. I have agreed in principle to buy the car and i will be printing off the buyers guide to take with me just so i dont miss something obvious,to be fair the seller sounds as honest as can be and has owned the car for 10 years. Is there anything else i should know folks before i part with the cash?  ....its a facelift cosworth.

Dont put your foot down on a corner

Dont put your foot down in the wet (even on the straight)

Keep your eye on the Speedo! you wont realise you are sitting at 90+ ;)

My previous cab was a metrocab(slow as a week in jail) so compared to that my TX1 actually feels like greased lightning.

From a standstill - no not really.

Once up to about 20mph or in kick down mode - hell yes :-)  I've put my foot down at about 30mph joining a motor way only to have the backend do a little wiggle and the traction control lights flicker ;-)

I've had a few BMW/Merc/Audi drivers looking a little confused as they drop away behind me.

;D Been there, done that, seen that, amigafan.  I love my Scorps.  I can cruise around like a slug, all comfy and lazy with the Cosworth engine purring like a contented cat. Or----------  ::).  Enough to say that these Cat's have attitude  8).

Enjoy your Cossie, Comfortzone  :)

Mike

To be honest the 24v will give you a similar performance to most run of the mill stuff on the road now

although the rear wheel drive does make it exciting :)

One thing, emissions test would be very good to have handy, costs a tenner to have it tested at a garage, but bad cats looks like about £170-200 + labour (can be anything between 3 hour and up depending in how stuck the nuts are). Mine seemed almost flawless when inspected & testdriven, was MOT'd a few months before, but both cats were dead.

I had actually wondered about that,im afraid i will be on a wing and a prayer, really just taking the chap at his word and going by my own ears and eyes.

Dont worry too much Comfort zone  ;). They are a cracking car & yes when on the move the cossies can be quite entertaining. 99.9% of the members on this site are absolute diamonds & if you did ever have a problem there is always someone more clever than you or I that will help get it solved in no time at all. Dont think of it as a car...Think of it as a long lost relative...& this site as your newley aquired family  ;)...( Right thats enough sloppy stuff for now...Time for a lie down )  ;D ;D ;D

Agree on that, there is probably no other car in the world who has a comparable community. Think that 100000 were made, and there are over 4000 members of this site, that's 4%.
