Title: Re: 12 v stalling Post by gozz on Sep 10th, 2009, 10:55pm Borrow a throttle potentiometer to temporarily substitute for his. This is the simplest first check, they are a source of all sorts of bother on the 12v,eg the symptoms you describe, cutting out at road junctions, bad or non existent idling and uneven acceleration.Price new makes a mess of £50,so best to test it first. GOZZ. |

Title: Re: 12 v stoping Post by Snoopy on Sep 13th, 2009, 4:55pm IACV as Gozz so correctly identifies is the MOST likely culprit. If its not that then look at the ignition module in the distributor. That is where I would start. |

Title: Re: 12 v stoping Post by Stixy on Oct 10th, 2009, 12:17pm I had a non starting 12v V6 and i suspected the tps ( before i had my FDS 2000 :-[) My local Ford dealer sugested unplug the tps and try and start it if it starts straight away its the tps . A failed sensor that gives no output is bypassed by the EEC-IV or V but a failed sensor giving a false output can cause a contant problem or a non run situation ;) |

MAF is a good runner up of the list of free fixes (or whatever a 1/10th of MAF cleaner spray costs :)) Another cheap fix was to replace the DTPF sensor hoses, easy to access, in total the consumed materials were 2-3 euros. Paid off itself instantly, my average fuel consumption went down with 1.5 litres per 100km. |
