Title: Radiator swap. Post by Tons_of_fun on Sep 13th, 2009, 9:23pm Hi guys. The radiator on the cossie went on saturday morning :'(. I've searched just about every scrap yard in brum but found nothing. E-bay was just as bad. Cant really afford to wait 2 weeks & spend £225 to have mine re cored, so im probably going down the 12v or 16v route. What i need to know is can i fit one of these rads without changing the expantion bottle ? If so which hose do i blank off from the cossie tank ?. Will a non cossie rad share the same mounting points & will the cossie fans fit without any mods ?...Phew !!! think that about covers it ::). Cant really understand why a cossie rad is over £200 more expensive than a 12v rad ? Do you think it's because manufacturers hear the magic "C" word & think they can charge you a fortune ? ? . Anyhow, all help gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance...Craig :) |

Title: Re: Radiator swap. Post by amigafan2003 on Sep 14th, 2009, 11:30am I'd still like to hear peoples opinion on tons-of-fun original question - i.e. what's inviolved with using a 2.3v rad. I'm always intrigued when people say you need to swap the header tank as well becuase the Cossie one has an extra outlet - why can't that outlet just be blanked off? |

Title: Re: Radiator swap. Post by Highlander on Sep 14th, 2009, 11:38am The third 24v outlet can and has been blanked off but I changed the header tank as I didnt trust the pipe blanking method (just another potential source of a leak I reckon) All the rads share the same mounts and any Scorpio radiators will fit in your 24v with the fans. Blank off the hose that has nowhere to connect to :) |

Title: Re: Radiator swap. Post by Tons_of_fun on Sep 14th, 2009, 2:44pm Thanks Stuart. Sound advice as always ;). Luckily i have a Knight in shining armour that has came to my rescue :o :o :o. THANK YOU GOZZ :-*. With a bit of luck & a lot of swearing the fridge shall be up & running by the weekend. ;D Phew what a relief. I have never had problems geting parts before. There was always at least 1 breakers in Birmingham with a scorpio in there. Looks like they are beginning to get realy thin on the ground now :(. Im keeping my eyes glued to E-Bay from now on. Think it's time to start looking for a donor car ::) ;D ;D ;D |

Title: Re: Radiator swap. Post by amigafan2003 on Sep 14th, 2009, 5:41pm I noticed mine is bulging that's why I asked ;-) Might buy a 2.3 rad soon and fit it when we have a nice weekend, rather than waiting for it to go pop in the middle of nowhere (and it''l bound to be at night, freezing cold and raining (or showing!)). |
