Title: Scratching sound from dash
Post by tlundkvi on Sep 23rd, 2009, 10:53am
Probably silly question...

Sometimes I hear a scratching sound, a bit similar as the clock but a bit longer from behind the dashboard (not the instrument panel). Basically you can her it only when running idle. Usually it comes from the left, then right, left again etc. Is this just the heater/ventilation flaps?

Sounds like the heater/vent flap motors  :)

;D

So quite likely the vents then.

Actually had a similar sound from the fuel consumption meter in a new BMW E46. One could barely notice, and that only after being told about it. Result: unacceptable for a Beemer, replacement of the whole dash instruments assembly.

A Finnish guy who had a Lada once needed to fix something in the the door. To his surprise he found sandwiches wrapped in Pravda when he removed the door cards.
