there is a silver scorpio for sale on ebay , the seller is selling for spares or repair because it runs for 20 minutes then stops and wont start again for another 20 mins or so , what could that be ? seems a nice car other than that

Rich.
Whatever it is it can be sorted,a scan should reveal the problem, maybe just a sensor on the blink. The main things to worry about which could involve big cash are engine, gearbox ,and body rot, followed by rear hubs and brake calipers.

wont be much, finding it is the problem ;)

Is it this one HERE ? (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-FORD-SCORPIO-ULTIMA-16V-AUTO-SILVER_W0QQitemZ160364883487QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item25567dee1f&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)

If so, then it sounds like the fuel cut off loom (engine loom) could be shot  :)

....Could also be something simple like an overheating fuel pump relay  :)
