Title: Fues box issues!!
Post by jon_viola on Oct 5th, 2009, 8:53am
Ok,

So it looks like my car has the fuse box problems that you all talk about. My car over heated on the way to work yesterday and i lost the speedo and temp guages and rev counter started flicking, i called the RAC and apparently the fans are not coming on, this is due to them shorting the fuse and even when he removed the relay and disconnected them the fuse still shorted. Add to this my starting problems and good charge but low and fluctuating voltage i'd say i've got problems!! Do you agree it the fuse box?

Should i replace the box? How expensive are they?
How difficult is this? Should i get a pro to do it?
One of you who know the cars?
Should i get shot of the car as it obviously has big electrical problems?

The self leveling relay also was missing....

Your help and advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Jon

Hi mate

reading your other post it sound as if the battery side fuse box has got damp and shorting,

good news is that its the easiest box to get out and strip down,

if you dont mind messing about with the fuse box you can strip it down and clean it your self, they have 6 layers, take photos of everything, fuse locations, plug locations and each layer

a bit of kichen roll and some smooth emery cloth and should be good as new so long as it hasnt corroded anthing to much
