Post by david49uk on Nov 2nd, 2009, 11:58pm
my car as doing a fare bit of wondering at high speed and also if you let go of the steering on a straght road it wonders to the left. i have give the front wheels a good old shake and the only play i can feel is from the front little bush on the wishbone, i have ordered the parts but to me they look as if they have to pressed in, is there an easy way to do this and if so how, dave

David, I'm not sure the word easy comes in to it but THIS article (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/wishbone.htm) will give you a good idea !!. ::)

Dave.
The front tyres can cause pulling. If they have worn to a particular form because of wishbone problems, the steering can still be one sided after you repair the faults. Therefore once you have put it right and it still pulls, change the front tyres.
The rear bushes collapse internally, sometimes because someone has fitted them wrong,ie the little gap on the metal collar should be at the top.If you look inside you will see cracks in the rubber. The front bush is best burned out,and the new one pressed in with a vice and makeshift mandrel. No point in doing this if the balljoint is slack though.
