Title: HBC fan FIX
Post by Gazza_UK on Nov 24th, 2009, 7:23pm
Hi All

Been away for a while but have a good fix to pass on  ;)

My heater would work fine then stop then work . . . .  >:(
Go over a bump work over another bump stop . .  you get the idea . . .

So armed with a 12v LED I connected it to the two wires on the left side of the HBC  looking from front of car ?
This goes to the Heater fan

bottom plug in pic below

So when the heater is on and working the LED would Light up  ;) and the fan would work so the idea was if the led was on and no fan then its the motor playing up  >:(

But after a few weeks this proved that heater off and LED was also off  >:(
Ok so the fault was not the fan  :)

So next test was LED to the right side (12v input ) and this stayed on all the time even with the fan not working  :(

Then as I touched the plug the Fan started ( this was pure accident as I left the heater switch on and no fan )
and the Heater motor came to Life  :D :D

So armed with my Dremel and a small grinding stone

I went and cleaned all three conection plugs on the HBC

Dont forget to blow out all the old filling then I sprayed electrical contact cleaner ( maplins ) onto the Plugs

And now after 3 weeks its still working fine fingers crossed
