Title: plastic parts faded Post by Ewing1 on Dec 9th, 2009, 10:17pm Hi all. I canīt help noticing that the black parts around windows, plastic parts such as window washers etc are faded in color. Any advice on this is most appreciated. best regards Ewing1 |

Title: Re: plastic parts faded Post by Scorpio_Mike on Dec 9th, 2009, 11:10pm Pretty sure you can get a product ( Autosol ? ) from Halfords or similar which is meant for restoring the colour to black finished parts. Maybe worth a go ??? |

Title: Re: plastic parts faded Post by Tons_of_fun on Dec 10th, 2009, 8:55am Time to reveal one of my little secrets ::) ::) ::). Get yourself some Autoglym Bumper care gel. Put it on an old toothbrush & give your trim a good old scrub ;). After the second or third application they come back to 'as new'. Mine were actually white when i got the car but this has sorted them out a treat. I have known some owners to use black insulation tape to mask the problem to good efect, but eventually the tape shrinks & has to be re done. HTH... Craig :) |

Title: Re: plastic parts faded Post by Kenboy on Dec 11th, 2009, 6:20am Good old fashioned cherry blossom black boot polish, does it a real treat, any on paint work comes off very easily. also works a treat on hoses and most engine bay non metalic parts. Kenboy |

Title: Re: plastic parts faded Post by Snoopy on Dec 11th, 2009, 7:48am I agree with Kenboy I use Kiwi shoe polish on all rubber and plastic parts and it does not affect the rubber like some do.. Good for the tyres as well |

Title: Re: plastic parts faded Post by pinto on Jan 6th, 2010, 2:48pm Best and longest restoration of black plastic components i've acchieved was using linseed oil :) apply to a cloth and carefully apply to whatever you want to restore. Leave it for a while, then buff it off. Be careful of glass and apint tho cos it can be a b****r to get off ::) |
