Title: Spark plug threads Post by Tenfut on Dec 19th, 2009, 10:00am Good morning all Is it adviseable / obligatory to grease the threads when fitting new spark plugs (24v) I have seen opinions for and against. If yes what is best to use and where to buy? TIA Tenfut |

Title: Re: Spark plug threads Post by gozz on Dec 19th, 2009, 4:48pm I would say that as far as I know there can be no harm in doing it,sometimes a product called 'Neverseize' is recommended by certain manufacturers,I don't use anything myself (for the spark plug threads) ;D GOZZ. |

Title: Re: Spark plug threads Post by PJDavis on Dec 19th, 2009, 5:43pm Done lots of sparkplugs in my many years of working on all types of cars. All I've ever done is drip a couple of drops of 3-in-one oil on the threads and work it in. The most important part of fitting plugs is not to over-tighten. Of course now with the many different materials used for cylinder-heads, we all need to be careful of electrolises, which helps to bond the different metals. |
