Had to top up oil today, used Castrol Magnatec 5-30, maybe a coincidence but after 250 mile round trip to Craigs i seem to have a strange noise form front of engin area, more towards cc compressor side, will wait till tomorrow and see if its still the same

That's the right oil for a 2.3 Bruce ;)

What sort of noise is it ?.....if it's coming from the compressor side, then possibly the compressor or the water pump just below it. Try turning the compressor clutch wheel by hand....it shouldn't be too stiff.
Also remove the drive belt & turn the water pump & compressor pulley wheels by hand...they should spin quietly & smoothly with no resistance :)

Started engine this morning, no point in checking pulleys and things, the noise was horrendeous, but as soon as I turned off ac, was a lot quieter, so into my local garage tomorrow to fit my spare pump
