I was wondering what oil is best to get for my 2.9l 24v V6 Scorpio engine? The manual says 10W-30 oil is preferred. But this seems to be pretty hard to get. It also says use 10W-40 otherwise.

Anyone have any advice about the best sort of oil to use, type, brand, place to get it from, etc.

I've got Mobil 5w/30 Super FE semi synthetic in mine.
On offer at Halfords at the moment. 20% off 5 litres

Is that the 2.9l V6 24v engine, Tenfut? I forgot to mention that this is supposed to take a different grade of oil than the normal engine (according to the manual anyway).

ive always used mobil 0w/40 fully synth in my 24v, its expensive though :(

According to http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/engdata24v.htm, virtually anything is possible. Fords "own" Formula E 5W-30 is a good grade, fully synthetic and an economical alternative. It's just a few quid more than the bulk 10W40, but has much better properties. Plus it comes in 5 liter bottles, you will need 4.5 with the 24V if you let it all out with time.

If you go to Castrol website and input your car reg it recommends Edge 0W-30.

Castrol Magnatec 5W/30 everytime.

My FMD use it (used to be called 'A1' in the trade I believe) - Ford changed the spec (10w/40) shortly after issuing the owners guides ::)
