Title: Interior rear view mirror
Post by geoff_bateman on Feb 24th, 2010, 8:58am
Sorry if this has been done before but I'm new here. My automatic dimming rear view mirror has leaked - a common fault I believe. I have removed the mirror from the stalk and thought "I'll fit the one from the old granny". WRONG. the size of the ball on the end of the bracket on the Ultima is larger than the old granny one so as to allow the wires to go through. I don't particularly want to replace the mirror with another automatic one, I would much prefer the old manual sort. Is there an off the shelf manual unit that will fit the larger ball on the Ultima bracket, or will I have to remove the bracket from the screen and replace the complete unit?
Thanks.

Yes I had read that article but to be quite honest I can't be bothered with all the messing about and I prefer the manual dipping type as it's what I've always had and they seem to work well and they're simple, they don't go wrong. Thanks for your reply though.

The FINIS part no for the manual one is in that article from what I remember!

and the cost was around £27 most likely gone up now though with the £ and the recession etc.

Quite right snoopy, thanks for checking it out.  I must have missed that bit as I was engrossed in the amount of work being done on the mirror! Or maybe it's just age! :-[
