Title: Electric front light adjustment
Post by mondeoman on Mar 7th, 2010, 9:22am

Hi,

I was wondering if someone on here is able to solve a mystery for me? I was wondering if the leveller adjuster for the headlights was an optional extra, or what determined if it was added to the car?

I've got an M reg 2.9 24v Ultima which doesn't have the adjuster knob next to the light switch. My wife's R reg 2.3 facelift Ultima does have the light adjustment switch.

I've bought several of the Ford Scorpio brochures and they don't seem to mention it as an option etc?

Cheers,

Mondeoman

Saloon or estate? On the estate I'd think self-levelling suspension cancels out the need. Mine has headlight adjustment despite self-levelling is fitted.

So not an easy straight forward answer to this it seems?
I wonder if you get the adjustment if you have headlight washers fitted?

Both of our cars are saloons

usually saloon has automatic adjustment if not self leveling suspension. like tlundkvi said.
there is manual adjustment which you are talking about, if automatic light leveling is not installed.

I think the easiest way to verify this is to check for a multiplug on the side of the headlight. If there is no dial, and multiplug connection is present, then it might be automatically adjustable headlights. My gut feeling though says the scorpios were a bit too early to have this automatic system. Most cars had them when HID lights became more common around '98.

But mine has headlight washers , self-levelling suspension (saloon) and headlight adjustment. Manufactured the last week of November 1994.

I am correct that the manual adjustable headlights was not an optional extra?

Surprised that Ford don't mention this in the brochure, either manual or automatic adjustment. I thought only estate had self levelling suspension and yes I've read the other topic which is discussing this.

Did trim level make any difference and do most cars have the option?
