Title: Pictures of BOB tensioners?
Post by tlundkvi on Mar 8th, 2010, 7:15pm
Hi all,

I was wondering, does anybody happen to have some pictures of the BOB tensioners? To get some idea of them.

Would be grateful if somebody could post them!

The ones I just bought two hours ago + the valve ;D, but these are just for overhaul of an old one. They were just too cheap to let pass. To get the idea on the overhaul process, some pictures could really help of the "full" tensioners.

Will the plungers drop off the tensioners easily when locked?

In http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/tc.PDF, point 47, it seems like the plungers come loose from the tensioner body. I received the plungers in locked state, I get the impression they are just lifted off lightly in the locked position, am I right? And then the plunger locks itself firmly to the body and mobilises the tensioner in point  91.

As goes with the valves, it doesn't say in the pdf, but do I just pull out the old one and press in the new? No releasing etc.

And the Tx30 key is for the backside of course. Sorry for playing it too safe, but there's not too many shots. The only problem I have is slight 2-3 second knocking on startup.

How does one know if these are the "original" or the uprated ones?

Do you mean by "uprated" the newer Tensioers they used from 1997 on?
to my knowlege they changed the spring of the right tensioner only. that's the sole difference.

i have a pair of tenioners around which i'll will replace in a few weeks.. do you need any pictures?

I have the above parts + one extra tensioner + my old ones, so I'll be allright. Do you happen to know which is which, is the longer one for the alternator (right hand) side?
