hi there good question i have had my cossie for 2years i have changed and fixed every part that as gone wrong with the knowlegde i have gained from you kind lads on this site, somebody give me an honest opinion of the road handling of the cossie, mine round town drives like a dream, up to 70mph not to bad but when you get differant sufaces of road it alters the drive it becomes some times to vibratey the wheels have there own mind if they want to go round the next bend alltogether the ride is crap. how are you supposed to use the 210 horses if when you start opening it up it as a mind of its own, it went through the mot last week, i have changed every bush on the front changed the steering arms anything that plays up i change, is this the way the car drives you mention it to some one they say yer mine was the same got rid of it, had a 2,3 it handled like a dream right the way up to the top of the clock its strange. dave

If everything suspension wise is OK the car should handle reasonably well,let's not forget it is rear wheel drive,a configuration many modern motorists find nigh impossible to cope with as the technique requires a modicum of skill after front wheel drive,the power of the 24v is much greater than the 12valves,therefore back end hang out is easy to produce.Then of course decent tyres are essential on these cars to enable power and braking to be conveyed to the road.

Dave.
I wouldn't be able to advise you on tyre types,it's really a matter of preference,various people on here from time to time have recommended various tyres,if you go to a tyre place they will sell you the biggest dearest name,but they may be no better handling wise than a more reasonably priced tyre.You need to talk to someone on here who likes to nip about in their Cossie,and see what they can tell you.

Sensotronic Steering playing up? It may be worth getting it checked out Dave. I don't know much about it at all except to say that aprox. 2 years agot I was not happy with the steering on my Cossie, like yours everything "manual" was fine but,as far as I remember she did not feel right at speed. I had it checked out by our Ford garage and they fitted a new rack. Been brilliant ever since.

I use continental tyres on the back and at mo have p6000 on the front. Whats the tracking like. My cossie is not bad handling, but the shockers are 80,0000 miles old and it would benefit from new ones.

Shouldnt be any vibration David,

I drive mine fairly hard round the country roads and would say its very smooth even when driven hard, its no rally car but it behaves pretty well.

Cossie has 21mm and all others 20mm

The wide tyres seem to give you that. I find the best handling on the 65R16.

I really think this is the best ride of any car i have ever owned, no matter what speed. I have only lost the tail end once, and that was on a roundabout and I missed a fuel spill, quite scary. I drive on budget tyres and as I live in the mountains of Wales the roads are twisty and turny. I can throw the Cossie around with great confidece in its road holding. So for me there are no issues. Just happy days.

Ah you see we have to be careful with no fixed speed cameras they have taken to hiding them in strange places!! including buying a horse box, fitting up with cameras, then leaving it on a layby. this was great till local TV found about it and filmed a piece right in front of it. Police not amused by could do nothing.
