Title: color?
Post by Ewing1 on Mar 18th, 2010, 7:59pm
Hi all. I´m thinking about having my scorpio re-painted. Its beginning to show larger areas of rust- especially at the doors and Im not too satisfied with the silver color. Would it be a crime to paint the scorpio in a color which is not listed as an "original color" in the brochure?

Actually Im thinking about having it painted in a granada- brown metallic color. Let me know what you think. and thanks again for  a great great forum.

best regards
Ewing1

It's your car, so your choice.
Don't think anyone would consider it a 'crime' to paint it a non-original factory colour.
Not too sure about metallic brown though  :o

It it is a 24v then how about one of the colours originally available on the Escort or Sierra Cosworth models ?

hehe. thanks. i understand your "concern" about the brown colour. its not the most up to date colour- i just like that old fashioned look.

bubble gum pink might be cool too:):):)

actually the best standard colour I've seen on a Scorpio is Loden Green, lovely on a sunny day

The trouble with painting a car a different colour to the original is, the inside of the doors, boot, and engine compartment showing the old colour.   In my opinion this always looks tacky.   But, it's your car and so you will make the choice.

I'm sure that was Baz's first one,  it was actually Red/maroon i think.

the copper is a virtual colour he created with some software, I'm sure he did a few others but could only find that pic.

Hi all. To me the brown-ish scorp looks just about right. Maybe a bit darker in colour and with the crome front still showing, but besides that a fantastic photoshop edit.

thanks
