Title: buzzing on acceleration
Post by wolfblood on Mar 20th, 2010, 12:26pm
Hi Guys
Looks like the ovepressuring problem might be fixed (fingers crossed). Am currently working on a write up of all the procedures and fixes tried.
see below for more details on that one before a more concise write up is available.

The latest gremlin to raise it's head is that there is now a buzzing sound coming from the dash when I accelerate. (like a wasp trapped in the vent). Gets faster as I accelerate goes completely when take foot off accelerator. Sound seems to be from the vent area on the right of the steering wheel.

Car is 24v UK right hand drive.

Regards
Dean

Interferance from the radio.. I had that trouble with a car when you had to fit a capacitor to .... somewhere in the engine.... to stop interferance...

cheers Tony Boy

Had that thought too as I once had to fit an online suppressor to the radio of another car. Unfortunately it does it even when radio is disconnected.
Now I have driven it a bit more it actually sounds more like a reed in a mouthpiece vibrating or like one of those kazoo things I used to make from drinking straws as a kid.

I had a buzzing sound on my Zodiac last year.   It was the Alternator.   It too got faster when I was accelerating, and disappeared when I came off the gas.   The fan belt was too tight, and when accelerating the engine was putting more pressure on the bearing, but when the foot was off it wasn't putting as much pressure on the alternator bearing.   Just a thought.   Try spraying the area around the alternator with WD40 whilst operating the throttle to get the sound.   Only a maybe on this one.
