I Always d the front first , the heavy bit and then the back but I don't think there is any special way. Be very careful they are very heavy cars and make sure you use strong mounting points and the stands are mounted on SOLID ground NOT TARMAC. When its up be careful not to knock it about too much.

I always used some 1inch ply to mount my stands on if it was to be there for time as the noise of the wood splitting always gives you a second or two warning if its going to give way.

I knocked up some supports made from bits of fencepost nailed into a solid block - got the idea from the 'Tank Overhaul' series on one of the discovery channels - they use railway sleepers under 50 tons tanks to support them while they take the suspension apart.

Hi,using normal car ramps are a no no due to front valance obstruction but Paddy Hopkirk ramps have a longer and lower profile allowing car to be mounted, once this is done raise and support rear using appropriate rated axle stands and as dave said make sure that both ramps and axle stands are on firm level ground, btw chock the front wheels.
