Is it OK to oil the throttle cable?

I only ask cos depends whether it's got a plastic inner sleeve, as sometimes you're not supposed to oil those

hi there

don't think it will harm the cable in any way, if that's what you're asking.

are you wanting to do it for a reason? if you're throttle is sticking a little, try cleaning the throttle.

see modifying the throttle body.

It is correct that oiling a plastic lined cable can cause the sleeve to wear.
On tight bends the oiled wire can cut through the sleeve and jamb in the cut.
Whether or not that applies to all plastic lined cables or the Scorpio cable I don't know, but if it's not playing up I'd leave it alone.

To be honest problee could do with a new one, could still be the original!

Cos they do end up permanently bent don't they? And start dragging ~ if my experience with motorcycle cables is anything to go by the only real cure is replace it, doesn't half make a difference, even if you think it shouldn't much

Appendix
And on the 16V there's a good old 180 degrees bend at the front end

Has anyone actually swapped a throttle cable? Presumably remove trim off underside of dashboard, and unhook from top of pedal?

Nothing as drastic as that, just a bit "stiff", like it's dragging somewhere. A bit.
