Title: CC. Experience
Post by Nunnspoet on Jun 3rd, 2010, 11:28am
On this lovely morning I decided to take my 24valve for a run.  The cc was set at 24C. and as it was warmed up outside I turned the cc off and carried on with my drive.  I became aware that hot air was exiting the Facia vents and thoutht this strange as the CC was off.  At first I thought the air was direct from the Engine bay but dismissed this as improbale so I turned the cc On waited a miniute then lowered the temp to 20C.  The air at the vents went cool.  I then turned the CC OFF and carried on driving.  The air from the vents stayed cool.  I turned the CC back on (Auto) and upped the temp to  High, it got Hot.  I turned the CC off.  It stayed Hot.  I turned the CC on and lowered the temp to 21c.  It stayed cool.

Is this something new or is it just that I did not know of this "option"?  I did listent to the disc on the CC but don't remember any mention of this.

What do you say folks?

Mike

The AC is basically there to keep the air cool enough when needed (it will also dry the air, reducing the misting inside the car on damp days). But even with the AC turned off, the system will still try to maintain the temperature requested. So if it is reasonably cool outside, you will get a slight cooling effect even with the AC turned off. For some reason, though, you will never get truly cool air into a Scorpio, whether it has AC or not, because it gets heated (probably from the engine or heater?) along the route to the fresh air vents.

Sorry, I meant with the AC switched off. Even if there is 3C outside, there is no way you'll get 3C air into the car (unless you run the AC) - more like 15C.
