Hi, where is the location of the DTRL Parking lamp diode ?
Wiring diagrams (Parking Lights) says that it uses connector C949. I have FIN Scorpio 2.3 -96.

Do you mean daytime running lights? I'm not so sure whether there are any diodes. There is a relay and some country-specific wirings (Nordic countries only) in the fusebox. Check this thread: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Advice;action=display;num=1247914429;start=0

Yes I mean, I took the DTRL-shortening from the Wiring diagram.

I think there must be one, and I think mine has a short-circuit and it is leading current to wrong direction. I cant stop the engine with ignition key, unless the lights are off !

Could be the ashtray/cigar lighter wiring is shorting, it's quite a common fault.

I think no.
I have cut the OG/WH wire from the multifunction switch to the diode and that solved the engine stopping problem. I could put a new diode in place where I cut the wire, but I would like to know where the original diode is ? I think there must be one somewhere.

Hello, I have just the same problem,can't turn the engine off while the lights are on, Iv'e been told that it could be a short circuit behind the ashtray, maybe caused by the cigar lighter, when i get round to it i'll have a look at removing the ashtray or the radio and have a look behind. See if i can feel or see something........... Don't know of any diodes , unless you mean the little green and orange light that indicates that the fog lights are on, that are on the light multiswitch...........

The DTRL do not apparently use a diode they use a resistor incorporated into the DTRL relay... Its a very simple system.............!

What if there is a shorting inside the light switch? But wouldn't that burn a fuse?

Iv'e changed my light switch over and still i can't turn the engine off with the lights on, can't see how a fauly diode ? or resistor would cause this. I think it would more likely to be a short somewhere......
P.S. when you turn your lights on with the engine off, do the doors lock .............

One MAJOR question;
Can I trust wiring diagrams (about the diode)?

Not solved where I need the cutten multifunction switch OG/WH wire anycase ?

Cutting the OG/WH prought back the ding/dong when lights are on and doors are opened.

Doors go no lock, because ignition current is on.

Hi again !
Now I know the funktion of the OG/WH wire. When the multifunction switch is on Parking lights (depressed and turned anticlockwise) and ignition is on, the licence plate light won't work without this wire. Now I just put a new diode behinf the multifunction switch and hope that the old diode will keep on feedin current. All other DTRL lights have all the time worked fine.

Yes, but now I have two diodes and the other is somewhere and broken, at least I think so. Thank you all for trying to help me !

There is a diode linked into a connector under the auxiliary fuse box that I’m told is for the aircon.

Just wondering if the DTRL diode might be under the central fusebox since the other wire is shown as linked to C214 which I think is item B in the central fusebox.

On the off chance the diodes may look similar I can post a picture if you want – the aircon one is in a black case with a diode symbol on the end and plugs into a connector the same as the ones for the ABS wheel sensors. The protruding part measures approx 35x15x8 mm.

I have just rebuild both fuseboxes but I don't remember any such under them ?

If you look at This page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/handbook130.gif) you will see an item marked B alongside the Relays. I guess that is what Tompion is referring to.

I dont know when I have time carry on with this matter. One open circuit rear ABS-sensor have changed. The other rear sensor must also check. And then some welding... Thanks Tompion for clear pictures !
