Post by rich1 on Jun 19th, 2010, 9:37pm
ive just been on a nice 200 mile round trip with no trouble at all , but i did notice that when i turned the heating on (got a bit nippy) that the temp gauge needle dropped , sitting perfectly without heating on , is this normal ? dont remember it doing that on my last scorpio???????

It shouldn't do that, could be your stat is stuck just slightly open ;)

Mine does the same Rich.
On an open road in lowish temps the needle sits between the blue and half way, in town traffic it sits slap bang in the middle.
I also have put it down to the thermostat not closing completely, but I'm going to leave it alone, knowing my luck I'll crack or strip the threads on the plastic manifold if i try to change it.
I don't think it makes a lot of difference to economy as i have just done the harewood journey ( total 217 miles) and returned an average 33.2 mpg
