Title: 24V Cooling fans
Post by Tenfut on Jul 14th, 2010, 9:03pm
Hi everyone

Just been browsing through some old mails on the mailig list.
One from Richard Griffin says, using the dashboard diagnostics (eng t)
the fans kick in slow speed at 65 and go off again at 70

Does anyone know

(1) What are the actual temperatures that these figures relate to

(2) What figure/temperature do the fans change to high speed

I don’t have the high fan speed reading but I took the low fan speed temp from OBD for my 2.3 a while ago:
Engine fans on low at 210F
Engine fans off at 202F

Mine never seem to switch to high speed, although having tested them with the relay off I know they work.
Maybe just not driving fast enough!!!

They do take forever to come on Tony, I've been stood ages waiting on the fans on a 24v to come on ;D

Cheers Stuart

Nothing to cause concern then?

No, I've almost been at the stage of turning the engine off because its run for that long without them coming on I thought something must be wrong :)
