AFAIK the mondeo (mk2) shares the same PCD & centre bore size as the Scorpio, although there is a slight difference in the offset ( not that you'll notice ) ;-). As for arch clearance ? ? Stick with no more than a 45 profile tyre ( 225 / 45 / 17 are ideal ) & you wont have any rubbage. I had this tyre size on my estate & even with the family & a boot full of luggage  i had no scrubbage at all ;-)

The original Scorpio rims are ET38 17x7.5J, so at most it will be 10mm closer to the inside than the original 17" alternative, assuming they are the same width. I used Mondeo steels with ET50 on my winter tyres, and this was not a problem at all, but this was 15".
