Title: 24 valve MPG Post by Nunnspoet on Aug 24th, 2010, 8:19am About a month ago I detailed the probs. I had fitting a new pre Cat Sensor on my 24 valve Cossie Estate, and an estimate of the MPG based on a shortish journey. Since then I have been down to Cornwall and back: On the journey to Truro, 120miles I got 28mpg driving within the National Limits, similarly on the return Journey. I recon on about 23mpg "mixed" driving. So I am a happy bunny. ;D Mike |

Title: Re: 24 valve MPG Post by tonyboy on Aug 24th, 2010, 5:48pm I went to Wales the other week and in total during that week i did around 650 mile, and according to the computer it was doing around 26 mpg, since then i have fitted new HT leads ( splitfire ) and i did a trip down to Brighton and back, around 160 mile and the computer was reading 29mpg |

Title: Re: 24 valve MPG Post by Matt63 on Sep 11th, 2010, 4:56pm I can "regularly" get over 30mpg on my 24v on motorway journeys, and can therefore do 400 miles between fill ups. I don't try to do it very often though as the "miles to go" reading falls dramatically when you come off the motorway leading to some rather hairy moments when looking for a petrol station! |

Title: Re: 24 valve MPG Post by Matt on Sep 12th, 2010, 3:05pm my manual converted 24v get 30 in town and arround 40 mpg on the motorway, however its better on fuel at 80 then at 70 at least thats my excuse ;D, however when that 10 miles warning beeps it really is panic stations as it guzzels it lol |

Matt when you get down to the 10 mile warning beep do you find that it stalls. I've never been down to the 10 mile mark but when it reaches the 25 mile warning, it tends to stall a bit |

Title: Re: 24 valve MPG Post by Matt on Sep 12th, 2010, 5:54pm didn't stall but coughed / miss fired a bit, but from saying 10 miles left it said 0 miles in about 1 mile. not sure what the reserve is on the tank but didnt fancy pushing the scorpio to the next garage after finding out it wasnt very much lol however i do know of a few cosworths that run badly on super market fuel, either being hard to start or cutting out straight after starting when cold then there's the one that doesnt kick down when its running on supermarket fuel, and from my own experience i found i used more fuel when on supermarket fuel then branded stuff over the same distance |

Title: Re: 24 valve MPG Post by Matt63 on Sep 12th, 2010, 6:14pm No, never had a stall because of low fuel conditions. Can also confirm that "0 miles to go" doesn't actually mean you are out of fuel, but I have never tested this for more than a mile or so on those rare occasions when I could not find a petrol station as quickly as I hoped. |

Title: Re: 24 valve MPG Post by 3drzetec on Sep 12th, 2010, 7:41pm if my 24v gets down to 15/20 miles left in the tank it shuts down, will start and run but wont rev at all even in neutral |
