Title: Sparkplugs Post by lleewar on Aug 28th, 2010, 1:58am Would the AC Delco spark plugs be OK for my 2.0 16v, Part no ACD R5605 available on ebay? They are a lot cheaper than the equivalent NGK's!! Lee |

Title: Re: Sparkplugs Post by Jonnycab on Aug 30th, 2010, 2:05am The auction says it's a generic photo, but if it is the AC Delco '14' plug (as pictured), then it is THIS (http://www.acdelco.com/parts/spark-plugs/rapidfire-platinum.jsp), which is a platinum plug, so might do the job....definately a 'suck it & see' experiment though, I reckon ;) What does worry me about the description though is....it compares it to NGK BKR6 range, which are Iridium plugs (I use these in my 2.3).......also, it doesn't state it's a replacement for Ford/Motorcraft equivalent platinum plugs :-/ Also the price of them is usually what you would expect to pay for conventional copper core plugs that would usually need replacing every 3000 miles or so. It's worth getting some more info on AC Delco plugs though HERE (http://www.acdelco.com/parts/spark-plugs/), as they do tend to make good after market products at budget prices :)........I've used AC Delco 5W/30 fully synthetic oil in my 2.3 for the last 80K miles & my engine loves it :) |

Title: Re: Sparkplugs Post by Jonnycab on Sep 13th, 2010, 1:33am I've just bought a set of these plugs from the Ebay seller....£7.62 inc P+P. They're worth a trial for that price ;) |

Title: Re: Sparkplugs Post by lleewar on Sep 13th, 2010, 10:49am Jonnycab, I hate to burst your bubble, but I received my package this morning from premier factors and inside was a set of CHAMPION RC7YCC plugs, NOT the ac delco I ordered. Called them and they told me A. they should not have sent the champions to me and B. the ac delco ones are out of stock with no idea when they will be in as he called the supplier while I was on the phone. They told me to throw the champions away? and will refund my money. I already have an email confirmation of the refund!!! |

Title: Re: Sparkplugs Post by Jonnycab on Sep 16th, 2010, 12:58pm Got my plugs this morning & they are AC Delco plugs :D.....They are the ones listed by the seller (R5605) which the AC Delco website list as the right plug for the 2.0/2.3 16V Scorp. Unfortunately they aren't platinum tipped. They're just conventional plugs which will work, but will get destroyed pretty quickly & probably need replacing in a 1000 miles or so ::) Oh well, you live & you learn ;) |

Title: Re: Sparkplugs Post by Jonnycab on Sep 18th, 2010, 1:43am I've written to AC Delco asking them why they sell conventional plugs for the Scorp when Ford state that they should be platinum plugs ??? I'll post the reply.....if I get one :-/ .... :) |

Title: Re: Sparkplugs Post by tlundkvi on Sep 18th, 2010, 8:06am If these are genuine and postage is reasonable, it's a bargain. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHAMPION-SPARK-PLUG-RC8PYP-VOLVO-S40-/160480135361?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item255d5c88c1#ht_680wt_913 PFR6Q are compatible too, loads available on ebay. Sold for TT but should match specification. |
